God offered salvation to all by believing in Jesus Christ, "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this is not from yourselves, it is a gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast." (Ephesians 2:8-9). It is the quickest way to convert someone who have limited time on earth and only met Jesus on a specific moment. A good example is the criminal who was crucified along with Jesus, he believed and instantly got saved. (Luke 23:40-43) In that brief moment that the criminal acknowledged Jesus and His kingdom, he was guaranteed to be with Him in paradise on that day.
But for us, Christians, as we continue to live, our faith must be accompanied with good deeds. Our faith does not stop in believing, we are called to follow Him in every moment, everyday and until our last breath. We need to live by faith, and we make it our goal to please Him. Each day we rise, God purposely use us to grow His kingdom. We were appointed to demonstrate "faith in action" in our homes, in our workplaces, in our community and all of our area of influences. He wants to reach everyone. He wants to give everyone a chance to know Him. He is patiently waiting for everyone to come to repentance. He wants to save all. If Christians do not do the work, who will tell them about Jesus?
What kind of works? In the epistle of James he teaches us that genuine faith reveals itself by what it does, by showing our faith with our good deeds and wise conduct. What is good works? It can be different for all of us but definitely to forgive, to have mercy, to act justly and to walk humbly with our God. (Micah 6:8) Wise conduct is described by James as pure, peace-loving, gentle, open to reason, full or mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere (James 3:17).
When we reflect His character to the world, we tell them about Jesus.
